I am a professional writer and editor experienced in producing clear and effective writing on deadline in a variety of formats for a variety of audiences. The world is my story board.

Currently, I serve as managing editor of www.Earthzine.org, an exciting position which allows me to meet a virtual community of Earth observation specialists around the world. Earthzine is a searchable online scientific, environmental journal dedicated to Earth observation. Written by engineers, scientists, science journalists, and the Earth observing public, it supports the nine societal benefit areas of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS): agriculture, biodiversity, climate, disasters, ecosystems, energy, health, water, weather. It is sponsored by IEEE, and is also available via free email subscription or RSS feed.

I've spent a rich twenty years in public relations at Northeastern University and at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I was executive director of information, news and publications at UMass Dartmouth serving as chief university spokesperson, PIO, and manager of the news and publications departments.

The Publicity Club of New England awarded me a Bell Ringer prize for the feature article I wrote from my interview with poultry tycoon Jim Perdue and published in the UMass Dartmouth Magazine (Portfolio).

I have written hundreds of press releases (Portfolio) and articles, on a wide variety of ideas and projects. I develop short, factual releases that grab editors' attentions and establish confidence in the reliability of the source. My press releases have produced thousands of media hits and have been the basis of feature articles in the Boston Globe, Parade Magazine and the New York Times.

I am an insightful interviewer with thorough research skills. I relish the exploration and study of topics new to me. My goal is always to present the client's communications product in its most polished form so that it optimizes the client's success.

I've been a correspondent for two newspapers, the Providence Journal (RI) and the Standard Times (New Bedford, MA). I received by-lines from each newspaper, reporting town government, courts and general assignment news.

As a freelancer, I've published feature articles in regional Gloucester and New Bedford Magazine(s), and in the national magazine Horse and Horseman.

I hold bachelor and master's degrees from the University of Massachusetts in English and Professional Writing.
